Almost every Teletype bulletin has requirements for springs.
Chatillon spring scales were in most of our tool kits, but we did not
use them much unless we really needed to.
After all we had the manuals and we had our parts filed for
replacement if we needed to replace a spring.
Now a days... Most of us do not have a cache of springs and so the
spring gauges can be handy.
Chatillon is still in business but their prices have gone way up since
the 1960s.

The Teletype tool catalog shows most of the needed gauges. I can
email a copy of the catalog to
anyone who needs one. Nick may have one on his site.

I already have a spring hook, burnishing tool, and feeler gauges, but
not a spring tension gauge. Is that the proper tool for Model 14/15
spring tension checking? I'm restoring some Model 14 machines, and
I'm always struggling with "is the spring too weak or is something
binding" issues.
