Hello Greg

Nice machines, by the look of
it.
I might be of some assistance regqrding
connection to the internet.
For the danish IT museum, I set up a
functioning telegraph office, with support for 8 printers of verious makes,
types, speeds, etc.
The newest software addition is an e-mail
function, so you can send e-mails to the printer(s).
For this purpose, I set up a special e-mail
address (in this case zczc at farumdata.dk);
the item then contains 'ZCZC <number>' (without the quotes), where
<number> is the printer identification.
The program is written in Delphi, with
comments in English. If you are well-versed in Delphi (6, in this case), you are
welcome to get the software. I can also help with the TU box, if needed. You
could also contact VK6CP, Larry Rice, who runs Creed and Siemens
machines.
Have a look at http://datamuseum.dk/site_dk/20100422/fjernskriverforedrag.pdf (in
danish....) and your will see the "telegraph office"
You could also susbscribr to facebook group
"tkt nl" where you can see Larrys letterbox :-)
All the best
Nico

PS : came to think of the speed issue. My
printers are connected to a COM port, at 50 or 110 bps. If your printers are
45.45 bps, there might be a problem

>Hi all.  After some negotiation I ended up purchasing both units today for half price, I had a good look at them and  they appear to be in good working condition, but they are 115 V machines so I am going to have a painful week long wait until my engineering friend travels up to give me a 240 to 115 V transformer to get them whirring.

>One was made in 1968 and the other 1969.  They are identical and both ex-Army.  As I said, although I can't actually power them up yet they both appear to be in quite good condition and do not appear to have seen a lot of service.  One of them even has a full roll of paper still on it and some type on the paper as well, so there is a good bet at least one works.  Both came with a mechanical cover but only one with a cover that encases the unit completely for transport (that Steve mentioned).  The spring loaded clips are deadly - there is no way that cover would come off in a hurry.  The previous owner believes he may have the cover for the other unit as well, so I'll find out later in the week.
