I started in the Bell System, starting with Pacific Telephone 3/31/70 
after I got out of 'Nam after 25mos in the Army Sig Corps.  I worked the 
Toll center in Oakland, CA (1587 Franklin St.). Worked the 17B, C, and D 
test boards on the 6th and 9th floors. We had 2 28KSR's with paper 
winders on the 9th flr 17B board. I ended up with those after Pacific 
Bell closed down the toll boards after cutting to the new 4A switch. 
#1XB, 5XB, Glencourt SXS and panel + 10th flr XBT all went away during a 
one weekend cutover. It was a sad day...
I went to work in SF, CA in 1980 and stayed there for 2 years and then 
came back to Oakland to work on the new 4ESS going in on the 15th floor 
(old 4A location). I ran the circuit maint. system for the statewide 
4ESS's. Ran OS11 from BTL on duplex Vax 780's. I ran Unix SVR2 on the 
backup Vax so I could hack code. I finally ended up as tier 3 tech spt 
for broadband with SBC/AT&T and retired 1/11/2008 after 38yrs. I 
couldn't take the BS anymore..AT&T just cares about the bottom line $$ 
and not the employees.
Wish I had kept those 28's, lol. Thanks to W7TTY I have a nice 28ASR and 
found a paper winder on ebay for $100. Also found a Ham that had 12 
baudot TTY art tapes that I got for $20. Excellent condition. Some are 
babes, dogs, etc. Gotta make me a  holder to outfeed the tapes so they 
don't get all tangled up. Also need to see if my bud Paul C. has a tape 
winder that will fit on the 28ASR cabinet. These are the only punched 
RTTY art tapes I've seen, so I grabbed them.
