Norm,
To my knowledge, no M43 works on 60 ma. They are ASCII machines.
They do not work with 5 level BAUDOT like we use.
The 25-pin connector is most likely an EIA 232 interface for a 103 or
108 series modem, although a few were made for contact interface with
a 109 modem.
Some have RJ-11 jacks and a built-in modem.
I have not seen a ribbon cassette available for several years now, but
some may show up, one never knows.
They are custom and not used on any other machine except the M42. The
machines also use special paper.
Many of the plastic parts deteriorate over the years and parts are
hard to find.
The manuals are the "mini" style and are about 1 1/2" inch thick with
very tiny print. They become available every so often on eBay.
Nothing about the M43 or 42 are very encouraging. They look nice
sitting on a table but are very difficult to make use of.
When operating they are good to make your wife angry as they sound
like a large knife sharpener.

I have acquired 3 desktop model M43 TTTYs. One has the two telephone
plugs, the other two has 25-pin computer plugs. some of my questions
are:
1-I am sure I need a new ribbon. Where can I acquire one?
2-I don't have any Documents on them.
3- The alarm light stays on, I think I blocked the no paper switch.
Not sure of other switches to block.
4-Is there a different board for 20 or 60 ma operation? I have many
more questions, but I will start out with these.
I also have a Digital Letterwriter 100, that I need a ribbon for. I
seem to be able to communicate with it from my computer, but I can't
communicate to the M43 with my computer or the Letterwriter doesn't
communicate with the M43 either.
I would appreciate any help that I can get.
Thanks
Norm
