Maximum output in the manual is 400 milliamps but keep some spare fuses handy. I use
mine to power my BD-100 Teletype Switch, loop, and an operator's TG-7 but I won't ask anything
more if it. I use the standard 2 prong non-polarized plugs as issued on the army sets while
observing the correct polarity. If you've ever had a well-meaning spectator hook a shoe on
a power cord, you will appreciate the safety of the standard plugs. TM 11-358, Telegraph Central
Office Set TC-3, figure 5 on page 9 even says "115 volt Twist-Tite receptacle will also take
standard parallel prong plugs".
If you need something heavier, the RA-43s still show up from time to time. Weighing in at 190 lbs
the RA-43 produces a staggering 4.5 amps to provide power for the 10 line BD-100. I love the giant
Tungar tubes.
As always, your mileage may vary.

This is what is on thefront of the DC output connectors on the RA87.At least I got it going. When I received it, it had a blown fuse in the DCcircuit. I would guess someone just tried turning it on after 70 years andthat the big filter caps were leaky so it blew the fuse. It looks like allis well with the power supply. By the way, this thing looks like it couldpower a kilowatt class amplifier with really massive iron for the xfmr andoutput choke. All this for a 60mA current loop??Any other assistance with these "TWIST-TITE" connectors is greatlyappreciated!Gary Schulz
