Don't they rely on the screws haviing a hole that the guide wire slips through? These are not magic screwdrivers folks.

It still possible to get screw guiding screwdrivers made now, brand new?

I ask since they sound like something extraordinairly useful for my work of computer repair.

I absolutely *LOATHE* modern compact cases. The screws are in the worst places imaginable, which are awkward to say the least when re-assembling them. (You will not believe the number of times I have dropped a screw and spent a half hour undoing everything I did because it decided to roll into some crevice; all the while swearing loudly.)

Cheers.
Christian

Just saw the picture of them today, really slow openning e-mail. I have two of them, I think all telcos had them in their Equipment rooms back in the day.

In case there is anyone on here who wants one of these but doesn't know that they want it, these were once known as "1000 line screw screwdrivers". On a more practical note, if you ever needed to disconnect or replace the wires in one of the standard Signal Corps microphone or headset plugs PL-54, PL-55 or PL-68, this is the screwdriver that you wished you had even though you probably didn't know that it existed.

Now if someone would just come up with the tool that crimped the wire retaining band...

      Hi gang:

Back in 2006, (holy cow - has it been that long ago?!) there were screw guiding screwdrivers on the e-pay place.

I have located and acquired four more of these original Neuses screwdrivers still in the plastic packaging.

If you search, you will find the following:

      N-2348 Guide Pin Screwdriver
      Manufacturer Model Number: N-2348
      WECO KS-2348
      Your Price: $24.75

HOWEVER - they are for the "first come-first served" at the nominal price of $12.00,
Postage paid in the lower 48.

If interested, pls e-mail me off list..
