More on the cover cleaning.

I am not sure of the long term effects, but the parts were unusable in the yellowed condition. Yellowed is OK as long as the entire cover is yellowed.

The bleach I used is the kind you use in the washing machine to keep your white clothes white. I used the cheap store brand. I bought a aluminum pan at the store as well. I cant fit the large cover in it, but the tape punch split apart and the reader cover fit no problem. Also the tape punch cover with the buttons but be sure and remove the metal spring and nut.

This may not work on plastic that is extremely yellowed, not sure yet.

Wear old clothes and use latex gloves of course. Rinse the bleached parts in water after soaking. I think 48 hours is the longest I would soak. This method has set me back about $6.

Final results later.

Wayne

Here is what I have found that seems to work pretty well.
Clean the plastic first with 409 or whatever and soak it in straight
 bleach for 24 hours. eyc
Was that standard chlorine bleach - the sort you put down the toilet?
Or was it the TAED whitening agent recommended in the Retr0brite article?
