  Tally made 120 character per second tape punches.

  Oki actually built a 4000 char/minute tape punch in 1958.
It punched 10 characters at once.  This was a variant on an
approach used for punching punched cards all at once.

  All these were computer peripherals, though.  They wouldn't
be see in a field comm station of the period.
