[GreenKeys] Jerry's Recovery

Carole,

The true meaning of HAM has been lost over the years. Some think it
is a description of the shape of the hand when using a telegraph key
to send Morse code... as in "Ham-fisted"
Others think that a amateur radio operator makes a "Ham" out of
themselves by sending out so much about themselves and their radio
gear... as in "Hamming it up"

In my opinion many of the best radio operators out there are a far cry
from "Amateurs" so maybe they should be citizen radio operators, but
that might get confused with Citizens Band!

Many of us are very pleased that your Jerry is making progress. Tell
him to keep on keeping on!

All my best wishes and hopes,

Don

Hello All,

This is going to be a short one, I have to be at the hospital early
today. His occupational therapist decided to catch him early to work
on transfers from the bed to wheelchair.

His improvement the last 3 days has been extraordinary, he is sitting
alone for longer, he stood at the parallel bars yesterday and walked
about 5 feet (3 attempts and assisted). His speech and memory are
getting better every day. Last night he told me that it scared him to
realize how much he can't remember. I told him it was all still
there, his brain just has to find it and process it.

He will be coming home on Monday the 27th, so if you don't hear from
me, you'll know I am running in circles trying to get all of the
supplies together.

Carol and Dave, Shayla, Lisa - he thanks you for the cards. He
doesn't always read the entire message but he does read the signatures
and remembers each of fondly.

We both continue to need your prayers for strength, both physical and
mental, and that God will continue to guide us down this road to
recovery.

Best Regards,

Carole

PS - will someone out there in radio land tell me what the letters HAM
stand for? The speech therapist ask yesterday. Thanks
