    See my other post.  Its possible that in the TV-7 the 
tube is in a position where the mercury pool forms where the 
filament can evaporate it and it does not come in contact 
with the elements.  However, its a small, portable device 
and might be stored in any position.  The instruction book 
does not have any special precautions other than specifying 
a 15 minute warm-up where the set has been exposed to very 
cold conditions.
    So, I don't know, it seems the 83 is immune from 
problems that affect its larger brothers despite the same 
warnings in the RCA handbook.
