You're welcome! :-)
I'd like to add my thanks for the HAL products, along with the other fellows. Fine hardware just keeps on
making people happy!

Thanks for the defense, Wayne. The ST-6 was originally a kit that each ham
built on his own. With strong prodding, we built a "few" at the factory -
turned out to be quite a few. As you say, the cabinet and board mounting was
never intended for "mobile" operation. Factory built units were shipped with
each circuit board wrapped in bubble-wrap and with an instruction sheet
describing where to plug-in each board. We also included thick foam padding on
the top and bottom covers that compressed the boards when the covers were in
place. We have repaired units that were damaged due to improper shipping. It
takes some time - at $75 per hour. The best "insurance" is to be sure that the
seller removes all circuit boards and protectively wraps them. The ST-6 manual
includes a diagram that shows where each board is installed - and the
orientation. A photocopy of the manual is still available for $20.00.

There was not a board retainer system in the ST-6.

I don't think HAL was "cutting corners." The ST-6 was simply intended to sit
placidly on
an operating desk, not go rattling around the countryside. I don't think we say
most
ham radio manufacturers were cutting corners because they didn't include tube
retainers
in all the gear.

All equipment I have worked with that has plug in boards has
retainers to prevent the boards from "rattling around". Is there a
board retainer system on each of these ST-6s that someone left off or
did Hal cut corners?
