And as a teenager who COULDN'T WAIT to build it and put it in use,
I used 100-strand telephone wire - and wired everything point-to-point.
It looks absolutely horrible.

And if that wasn't bad enough, I didn't have the cash to buy REAL
CAPACITORS to pad the tuned circuits, so one of the old timers
gave me a shoebox full of those caps that he had cut out of old
TV-sets, and they looked like dominoes - and some of them were the
size of dominoes.

I borrowed a signal generator, frequency counter, and DVM from work, and
tuned the things perfectly, but the display on the O-scope horizonal
has spikes on both sides of the elipse. Don't know if that is a
coincidence or not.
