Gents:
I have listed my Alden 519 Boatanchor Facsimile Recorder on eBay. For those who may be interested it's under item number 330617505345.
This item is not for the faint of heart.
If you copy RTTY and HF facsimile on your computer - and there's nothing wrong with that - this unit may not be for you. On the other hand if the idea of whirring machinery, flashing lights, and a facsimile machine that has TWO gear shifts causes you to become strangely aroused... this may be exactly the item you're looking for.
What we have here is an Alden model 519 electro-mechanical facsimile machine. It will copy the facsimile broadcasts sent on HF from stations around the world and print them on 19" wide *wet* paper (supplied). The 519 was the standard facsimile machine aboard ships and in FAA Flight Service Stations for years. Pilots of a certain age will recall carefully examining charts printed on the 519. In fact the 519 even made a cameo appearance in the movie "Airplane!". Doubt me? Rent it and see.
Please check it out.
