Hello,

I have been using the camera photo method, as described here
www.diybookscanner.org
I have done thousands of pages, at a rate of about 500 pages per hour in
this way, and I post process it with ScanTailor, and then Photoshop.
As the material is somewhat unique, from the 1910s and 1920s, this is
the only feasible method to avoid any stress on the binding, and I have to
say, it is FAST.... a LOOOOT faster than using the scanner.

Here is the finished material at 300dpi.
www.albinarrate.com/content/revista-telegrafica/catalog.php

    I have a Canon A470 of 7MPixels.
And my book scanner is the simplest version possible.
www.instructables.com/id/Bargain-Price-Book-Scanner-From-A-Cardboard-Box/
A cardboard box cut in half. :D and works!!!

I hope this inspires others, as it makes scanning a lot easier, faster,
and less invasive.

    REGARDS!
Javier
