The military version of the M31 was the TT-30/AGA-1 and it was powered 
by 24 VDC.  The 24 VDC motor also drove a 250VDC generator to power the 
converter & loop. It was a series governed motor and to minimize RFI, a 
25L6GT electron tube was used to control the motor speed winding.

It was the only TTY ever built that included a tube & a dynamotor!!
