Charles,

With the carriage in the dashpot, put a rag over the code bars. Then with fine or medium fine sandpaper or emery cloth rough up the small roller that releases the paper. You can also rough up the platen in the same area. Take your time and do it thoroughly and then clean with solvent or 409, either one. Make sure that the roller is turning freely and also the platen. Also check that your paper spindle is not restricting or holding the paper too tightly.

If none of that works, you need to replace the platen. I am currently out of them, even good used ones. Try Paul Cembura at 510-222-3102 or arubmec at pacbell.net for a replacement.

Subject: [GreenKeys] Hardened 33 platen?

On one of my ASR33's the platen is so hard and smooth that I am
ot getting proper line feed when it advances. There appears to be
dequate spring pressure from the little roller that holds the
aper against the platen, and adding finger pressure does not
elp.
s there anything I can apply to the rubber to get it to soften
ust the right amount without making a gooey mess, or is the only
ure a new one...
