Well, just me but,
I would take the front plate off, remove the selector clutch, take the
selector mech off, the stunt box out, the main shaft out, the platen out
along with the black rollers under the platen and remove the dash pot.
Now you should have a main frame, front plate, stunt box and main shaft
that is easy to clean.
If you want, take each clutch off the main shaft and place on the bench
in the order they were removed.
I used carb cleaner spray and it washed away all the grime and crud.
Will need a small paint brush to help with the cleaning. (Use outside!)
Then I used low pressure air to blow it all off and dry everything. Be
careful with the springs, they can and will go flying when you use the
air to dry it.
Take each clutch apart and clean all the dried gunk out.
I used the carb cleaner to clean most of the grease from the bearings
and then put them in a sonic cleaner using some Lysol multi-surface
cleaner. They came out real nice.
After all that, oil, re-grease,reassemble, adjust and test.
Good luck and have fun.
