I KNOW James, I KNOW...

At my museum in California a field engineer visited to repair my HP
2500 printer after almost a year of complaints.
I showed him my collection and asked if he had any questions. He
replied "Why would anyone want to collect all this old crap?"
I told him... "You know where the gate is..!

On the other hand, we had a fellow visit the museum all the way from
New England. He was very excited to see all of the Teletype equipment
and the Enigma we had on display. He tied me up for almost four hours
asking questions. Turned out he was an Army sergeant working with the
British during WWII on code breaking.

A fellow in California is supposed to send me some machines. When I
receive them I will check them out and see if you want them.

Don,
It has been mentioned that a good source of
getting a teletype is by your local Ham Club.
I wrote a request for a Model 28 ASR from the
Montgomery Amatuer Radio Club (MARC) in Montgomery, AL.
That is just 50 miles from here.

All I requested was that it be in working con-
dition and would they deliver it. I would pay
for the equiptment, delivery, plus a donation to
there Club.

I have received 5 letters all negative.
One said "machines don't work, go computer man."
Another said, he has seen a few at hamfest but
they wouldn't work. This guy is is WB8xxx, a
long way from Selma and Montgomery, AL.
What has amatuer radio come to!
These so called hams are not the hams I knew years ago.
What is your opinion.

P.S. Still looking for a working Teletype ASR
Model 19, 28 ASR, even a Model 14 Reperf.
Kleinschmidt FGC-20 KSR, and the FGC-25 ASR.
My MITE is just about gone, and I am tired of remodeling
the print head every three days.
