[GreenKeys] My machines work!

Just to let everyone know, after unwrapping my machines and looping them all together, I am happy to report that they are all working and functioning properly. It was a great relief for me, as the one thing that I fear more than moving a TTY, is that abrasive dust that gets everywhere when drywall work is involved.

Speaking of drywall, the contractors are putting the finishing touches on the bathrooms, and should be out of here next week. The stair lift folks will be doing their thing near the end of October, as they measured and are now fabricating the parts to fit our stairs. One other thing that we are doing (late edition) is having our sidewalk leading up to the front door hammered out and a new one put in place. The tree roots of a large tree buckled the sidewalk (heck, I have tripped on it in the past), and there were two steps in it, for which there is no need. The new sidewalk will simply be contoured up the gentle slope of the property. My wife is negotiating a snow melt system for it, but if it is too outrageous in cost, we will not have it put in. After all, I doubt that my mother in law will really want to go out if there is a foot and a half of snow on the ground.

As far as my TTY hobby is concerned, I am getting back into using my machines. I oiled them after unwrapping them, and as I said, they are making beautiful music (at least as far as I am concerned). They will have a new place to live next week in the "game room" which in our house is noted for not having anyone play games in. The pool table is going, and I will actually have more room for my toys. I am not actively looking for any machines right now, though I do check e-bay and the C-list every day for local ones that might need to be rescued from being trashed. I am however, looking at an old military fox generator, which just might be purchased near the end of the month. I am also looking for a rack mount unit that would be appropriate for a period display of comms gear (Gilbert has a beautiful double wide unit in his truckload sale, but it is way too far away for me to go to get it). I really do not want to use a computer rack, but if that is all I
can find, that is what I will use. I am also looking around for a tube based AFSK unit, preferably military, but that is not a high priority thing. Next spring, I will be back in the hunt for a M28 RO and some full hole punch only units.

Hopefully (as soon as I find my card reader for my camera) I will have some photos of my set up as it is put back together.

Best,

Joe Herdler
