GE OMs;
A couple of months ago I asked (on here) if anyone knew of a
Weather font that I could use to print METAR weather stuff.
Someone sent me a link where I could download such a font,
but he said that it was a really poor rendering.
I downloaded it and tried it. He was correct: it is really poor.
Since I'm in a townhome, I don't want to run the 28 after 8:00 pm
so I don't bother anyone - even though the neighbor next to the
wall where the 28 is says he's never heard it - so I looked into
the weather font again.
After playing with it, I've come to realize that the creator
didn't do a really poor job - but actually made an incredible
copy of the way a model 15 prints:
o The characters are dark/light - like a reinker is being used.
o The characters are smudged - like the hammers need to be cleaned.
o The characters are misaligned - so some are "up" and some are "down"
from the center of the line being typed.
If you want to play with the font, just GOOGLE "Teletype weather font"
and you will find several places where you can download it.
Getting your computer to USE it is a whole 'nother story. I'm running
Linux and I went thru so many gyrations to get it to work that I can't
even begin to tell you what you need to do to get it to work. Maybe
Windows is easier.
