Hi all,

I am back to being active on the Greenkeys maillist again. The services for my father-in-law were beautiful, and brought a sense of closure for everyone, at least to a degree. The construction on our house is almost done, including the damnable need to sand drywall mud. That is a nasty mess, and I have a great deal of compassion for those who have to do that sort of work. I will be able to unwrap my TTYs and Switchboard from the four layers of plastic sheeting and duct tape as soon as the last bit of drywall dust is eliminated from our domicile. The contractors did a grade AAA+++ job of keeping it from getting into the rest of the house, but still, I did not want to take any chances. My mother in law will be moving in near the end of November, as her lease will run out then, but she will actually be living with us in the meantime, once the last bit of construction is done. Until then, my sister in law will be staying with her to make sure she is all
right. I am finally beginning to feel like a human being again, and am not so exhausted that I fall asleep the moment I sit down.

As far as my TTY activities, unfortunately, for the next few months, I will not be in the "acquisition mode", but will continue to work with and learn about the machines that I have. As soon as things get settled in the next month or so, I will be once again on the prowl for TTY machines, and such, but as it is, I still have a TD that I need to get working with a correct 66 WPM gear set, and I still need to recap a wonderful old TLL/2 TU that I have. Since I have put my TTY / phone building on hold for a while until we see what comes in the immediate future, my wife suggested we give the pool table to our daughter's family (they have a big game room, and love to play pool... My wife and I never play, the thing came with our house), and then for me to set up my machines in the room where the pool table lived. That will work perfectly for me, and will keep the noise contained in one area.

Finally, I wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful thoughts and prayers that were sent to me and my family. I am not a strictly traditional person when it comes to spirituality, but I am the first to profess in the power of prayer. I am sure that those sent heavenward for us have had a very good effect, and have helped all of us with the healing process. Once again, a big thankyou to everyone who prayed for us, communicated with me and who kept us in your thoughts. It means a great deal to me and my wife's family.

Best to all,

Joe Herdler
