Effective 1200 PDST this date the ITTY Europe Channel is being
shutdown.
Seldom do I see anything but the shoutcast directory test hit the
channel, so I have decided to use the system for something else.
Last round of opinions suggested that for the most part another
autostart arrangement would be of the greatest interest.
To this end we will be using a revised version of the Autostart
Application wherein a direct telnet server will be a part of the
arrangement.
When the system is implimented, the former e-mail input will be
re-instated, but it will also be possible to telnet directly into
the service.
The communication on the telnet will be reflected on the audio
channel, but will also be relayed back over the telnet to all those
who have logged in via telnet.
When connected to the telnet server the incoming person will be
asked to log in by giving some manner of identifier, such as your
call letters or a name.
You can type a line of whatever length you wish, put in commas,
periods, etc., and will not be sent to the server until you hit
"ENTER".
The server will respond with your login name and two colons, such as
"W6XYZ : :" and then will transmit your entire input over the audio
circuit, but will also transmit it back to all telnet participants.
The return speed will be 60 wpm.
The system is in its youth, and BILL is off to East Fugawe
vacationing with beverages stuffed with little unbrellas, and sacks
of poppy seeds to throw at the young things in grass skirts hoping
the poppy seeds will grow and choke out the grass so he can see
what's being covered by the skirts.
When Eva has given him enough bruises to last for a few months he
might come to his senses and realize his services will be welcomed
back here.
Uponst his re-emergence perhaps he will take some comments and make
this something people will like to play with.
We are coming up on the summer season, and ITTY always takes a dip
in the summer months.
I'll clarify things a bit more when the system actually goes on
line, which will probably be late Friday evening.
A very emphatic "THANK YOU" to Wayne, WB0CTE, Don, K9TTY, and Thomas
"Gramps" Tillson for their diligence in keeping ITTY Chugging along.
73,
George - W7TTY - ITTY Central
