Adrian and Keelan,

Do the machines type correctly other than the CR failing?  If the keyboard is not generating a CR correctly then that is the first place to start.  

32's do not commonly have auto CR/LF, but many 33's do.  

CR code is 4 marking for a 32 and 1348 for a 33.  You can check this by turning on the tape punch and seeing a hole for each mark.  Also you can see it by the code bar extensions on the left side of the machine under and to the left of the CR dashpot.  

If the code is correct, the most common thing to look for is either the horizontal function bar that runs front to back and the corresponding vertical pawl.  Are these in their slots and are the springs attached.  The horizontal bars are under the code bars that the carriage sort of slides on.  The vertical pawls are behind the carriage under the platen.  CR function is on the left side, but I forget exactly where and sometimes it varies slightly with the model.  

If all is in place, you should see these move, especially the vertical pawl.  The CR may be trying to operate, but not moving far enough to push the manual return lever.

Adrian,
Is your machine not responding to carriage return characters, or is it not doing 
n automatic cr-lf when the print head reaches the far right side of the platen? 
y model 32 does neither at the moment, so I'm not much help; I'm just trying to 
etter understand your situation.
