Adrian,
I will give it a shot in brief.
Clean the cover with 409 or the like. Also the keyboard and tape reader surfaces that show very carefully.
Inside, blow out the dust etc as best you can. Lots of visual inspection and turning the mainshaft with the motor fan before applying power. Turn the top of the fan toward the front. Any binds call for inspection of why. Soon after power is applied and if the machine runs closed in Local, you need to replace the rubber hammer with a sub. Clean the metal hammer best you can with solvent, then use 7/16 OD 5/16 ID plastic tubing cut to 7/8 inch long and pushed on all the way to the bottom of the T.
The typewheel can be cleaned with spray solvent. Best to remove it, but be sure to hold the wheel while loosening nut that holds it on.
Dont spray cleaner into any plastic parts on a 33 or it will probably ruin the plastic. Do spray it on a rag and wipe all metal parts best you can.
Most all 33 problems can be found by visual inspection, not by making adjustments. Many old 33's have congealed grease on the code bars under the carriage where they slide on both ends as well as other sliding parts. I use Breakaway carefully to free them up. It smells bad for a few days, but works well.
Contacts can be cleaned with contact cleaner sprayed on a pipe cleaner and carefully used.
Then lube everything that has a felt or moves with 10 or 20 wt. non detergent oil. There are little felts in all 4 clutches that you find by turning the motor to see them.
I am sure other Greenkeyers will have more advice for you as well.
Good luck.
Wayne
