I've not posted on this subject before - even so - I feel a
bit of obligation (guilt?) requiring something of an
explanation:
Observation (IMHO): Timing in this whole matter couldn't
have been "worse" had it been planned to be "bad":
First - I hear about "the machine".
Then I hear about George "helping out" -- to include
providing "stuff" for free (typical for George).
Then I hear the machine has been put on the market - at a
"wow" price.
Right or wrong the impression I got was that "someone" was
taking advantage of George; and leveraging that to embellish
a sale. Having personally received much generous advice,
help, donations, etc. from George - *I* found that idea
pretty distasteful, and caused some serious ill-will towards
"someone".
Now comes more information - which suggests not all is what
it seemed to be... Does this change my perception? - of
course. Do I feel bad about my (until now un-expressed)
opinion? No, given the information I had - against the
time-line in which received - I found the idea of someone
taking advantage of George pretty despicable (sure, I know
George is a big boy and can take care of himself - but still
- *I* don't like to see someone bamboozled, esp someone as
generous as he is).
I hope "someone" understands what happened, understand the
motive (at least in my case) - can let it pass and move on.
If so - I hope that "someone" will become a part of this
community - and that "someone" will someday find their
relationships and friendships here have grown to the point
such that they too would be uncomfortable about "someone
else" whose intentions appear less than honorable - and not
hesitate to speak up. Why hadn't I said something? I guess
I had the luxury of being tied up with something else - and
by the time I got around to re-visiting the subject - I was
saved from putting my foot in mouth by "more info"...
else - I too would have a very red face.
just my .02... Best regards...
