George,

Why can't the one good one be made operational? It is fairly easy to
interface to the optical distributor and get back to a loop configuration.

The selector magnets themselves are standard and can drive directly.

I have some schematics around if you want them. I have two complete
UGC77's

Subject: [GreenKeys] I Sort Of Stand Corrected!!!

GreenKeyers - - -

I must admit to what I shall call an uncertainty, as I don't have
the books available to look things up.

I have three UGC-77 Compact KSRs which are tempest units.

I have a UGC-25 RO which is a compact high-level unit.

I will yield to Nick England who has the real thing to look at.

There is a significant difference between the Compact and the
Skintight models. They typing units of the compacts have a shorter
profile, as the side plates are different to lower the total height
of the machine..

All I know is that the 3 UGC-77s are useless to me, as in order to
make them usable it would require changing out the selector magnets
or full selector assemblies, as well as replacing the optical
distributor for a cam operated unit.

Such items are in the category of "Semi-Unobtanium".

Two of the UGC-77s have no covers, as they were somewhat gorked when
I got them.

The UGC-25 is just fine.

Also, regarding the "L" question. I do believe that the "L" stands
for "Leadership", as the model 28 series of equipments was known and
touted as "The Leadership Line".

Now, what should I do with the UGC-77s ???

They typing units are in good shape. Two of the keyboards need at
least new keylever covers, as they have been deformed in some
manner.

The third one is quite restorable.

There were NO electronics with them.

All machines have the heavy duty 3-speed gearboxes in them.

Probably should part them out.

Any suggestions??

W7TTY
