Subject: [GreenKeys] On Tempest

I got to thinking about Tempest stuff.

And I realized, what the spooks reluctantly figured out.

"What good is encrypting if they can listen to the TTY machine
bang out the message in plaintext?"

An excellent article about just that realization here:

Now that I think back on it, back in the aerospace industry, I
remember doing more than my share of radiated and conducted
emissions testing on various bits and pieces. But at the time I
thought we were just trying to make the gear quite so as NOT to
interfere with the stuff next to it. Well, yeah, that was part of it.
But now, looking back, making sure it was "clean" from a spook
perspective was a good part of it too.
