Hi All:

After a few days back after my forced hospital stay due to
my recent heart attack, I can report things are going
well... I am still very tired, but managing to get a few
little things done.

The big project right now is I have a contractor who so far
has stripped out the old kitchen of the museum house, and
we are renovating it to make a combined office/workshop
space. It so far has been de-kitchenized, sinks, stove,
counters and cupboard removed. The old layered cardboard
walls (50's Ten-test) have been removed, and old blown-in
insulation is gone, new insulation installed, and new
drywall. The old floor now has a fresh layer of plywood,
and it will soon have new tile.

Before I had the heart attack, I had redone the wiring, and
replaced some squirrel damaged wiring in the ceiling. Since
then, I haven't done a heck of a lot.

It is being outfitted with adjustable shelving on two
walls, and on one wall, a stand-up counter 36" high is
being installed in an l-shape, the opposite wall is getting
a 30" high counter for the office space - just the perfect
height for a sitting workspace. One of the remaining walls
will have a small mobile cabinet with the water cooler and
a coffee station on it, and with storage for coffee
ingredients. Both counter spaces have beefed up wiring for
work use.

A new overhead T-8 fluorescent has been installed as the
main work light, and the other side has an incandescent
fixture for those days in the wnter when it is too cold to
light the fluorescents. My Norstar phone system has been
run in, as well as the DSL line and POTS switch for the
internet on the office computer.

There will be lots of room for parts storage, and will be
great looking. It will ne a much nicer place to work on the
telephone, teletype and telegraph equipment that what I had
before. Ventillation has been improved with a 110 cfm wall
fan.

So, while I am having to stand on the sidelines on this
one, it is enjoyable watching the work going on, and by
combining the office and workshop areas, it opens up
another room for display purposes (once the stuff is moved
back into the new areas :-) I always said it is far more
enjoyable watching a good man work than doing it myself :-)
But sure as heck is more expensive!

Today, the walls are being painted, tomorrow, trim goes on,
and Friday either the new counters will be installed or the
tile will go in (depending on whether the counters have
arrived from the fabricator!)

Can't wait until it is done!

Dave
