Can't let this one go without comment. Yes, casein is a dairy product and
the "glue" is typically a little more complex. For example, you can use
casein-neoprene as a glue to hold paper and aluminum foil together. And,
to concur with another observation. You take a little bit and put it in a
foil weighing dish and put it in the back of someone's desk drawer. The
smell is, indeed, awful as the stuff "rots" and the poor devil whose desk it
is in gets used to the smell and really can't find the source. Yes, the
"boys" did that to me long, long ago. Like maybe 1965. And a lot of
pretty complex "glues" (we should call them adhesives) did come out of that
lab in Philadelphia and Central Engineering.
