I would love any photos you have. As for the paper tape, it is exactly 1/4”
wide which I believe is exactly 10mm

VERY NICE Machine. The only ones I know are in the German communications
museum. They have a few of them. Both weight driven as well as motor driven.
A few years ago I visited their depot/archive and took some photographs of
them.
If you are interested I can provide them.

I have a couple of telegrams in my collection that are supposed to be
printed
with this kind of machine. (around 1900 - 1920).
The paper tape is about 10mm wide as I recall. Can measure it exactly later.

Here are more pictures.  I have a basic understanding of how the machine
works having played with it for several hours today.  Also, I found the
following document that describes EXACTLY this machine.  Even the photo
(fig. 1) is my machine exactly. There was some discussion back when the
machine first surfaced whether or not this was a Hughes, Siemens or Groos &
Graf (Gross & Graf).  I am convinced this is a Hughes based on this PDF.  I
will add that I believe Groos and Graf were contract manufacturers probably
building this for Hughes. Siemens did create an improvement over the weight
driven Hughes system using a motor (46 VDC) and the regulator (governor)
tower and some other improvements which is why their name is shown on the
regulator tower. (From The Worldwide History of Telecommunications By Anton
A. Huurdeman)

Although I didn't post any pictures, it is clear that my unit was once
weight driven but had been converted at some time.  On the cast iron base,
there is a pivot for the pedal (to pull up the weight again). Also there are
large holes in the ebonized base to allow for the rope? Cable? to feed
through.

More to come!

Hi all, I wanted to thank John Nagle for pointing out that Hughes printing
telegraph that was on auction in Germany.  I was able to negotiate with the
auction house after it failed to bring the opening bid.  It has arrived
today and it is now on the driveway in the crate as I slowly and carefully
unpack it.

So far, I have only taken out the regulator tower (an enhancement designed
by Siemens for use with an electric motor (governor essentially)). Take a
look at some photos. The first few are pictures from the auction site. Then
some of the crate.  The best part is a  video showing how easily the
regulator tower spins as if it were manufactured yesterday! Really
incredible. I'll post more as I uncrate more!
