Yesterday at around 2 AM I arrived home after a 1000 kilometer round trip to the home of George Hutchison. I've been meaning to make it out to his neck of the woods for quite some time to pick up a 28KSR that he has been holding for me. George gave me a tour of his radio/RTTY haven, and the heart of the ITTY operation. I wish I could have spent more time visiting with him, but ferry schedules and the fixed number of hours in a day limited our visit to just a couple hours.
It would seem that while my 28KSR was hanging out in George's garage for the last few months, it made the acquaintance of a 28RO. The two formed a bond that couldn't be broken, and I had no choice but to bring both machines home in the back of my car. George also loaded me up with an assortment of goodies that will keep me busy in teletype heaven for quite while.
If you have an opportunity to take a trip to Sequim, stop in and say to George. His 'operation' is fascinating, and he's an interesting person to visit with as well. The drive and the ferry trip is quite scenic; it was an all around fantastic trip.
