The basic Model 14 is a Typing Reperforator. This has a motor, main-shaft
and type basket similar to those in the basic Model 15. The perforator
(reperforator) or punch block and type basket are controlled by the selector
mechanism. So it both prints on and perforates (reperforates because the
assumption is that the transmitter on the other end is running a tape) standard
11/16" wide tape. To turn it into a Transmitter-Perforator you set the
basic unit on a keyboard base, which has the same basic transmitter as does the
Model 15 keyboard. The TT-56/MGC (I have one, as well) is just the military
nomenclatured model. So you can both generate a tape off of the incoming
line and make one locally with the machine set up on local loop.
The basic Model 19 Set does not include a reperforator. It has a modified
Model 15 keyboard with tape punch mechanically linked to the keyboard keys.
And a modified cover over the 15 to clear the punch. The typing unit is
standard Model 15. Andof course, it has to the left of the perforator a Model
14 TD. But you cannot, with a basic Model 19, generate a tape off the
line. You can, however, be punching a tape while the printer is printing an
incoming message. Which you cannot do with the Model 14.
