The first thing to determine is whether the Machine is is a
Navy/Military Unit or Bell System item.
Most Navy/Military units operated with a 7.00 unit code as opposed
to a 7.42 unit (Longer Stop Bit) of the Bell-System equipment.
This goes for the Tape Transmitter /Distributor as well.
Additionally, should the tape perforator be in actuality a typing or
non-typing reperforator as opposed to a straight perforator, this
will modify what gears you will need.
A reperforator on the keyboard is easily identifiable an that if it
has a selector magnet assembly on the punch it is a reperforator.
Many of us have parts manuals standing by to assist with getting you
the right part numbers.
I recommend you pull the motor pinion and the intermediate gear and
see what numbers are stamped on them.. Likewise for the two gears on
the transmitter distributor.
Those numbers will give excellent clues as to the character code
length, as well as the speed your current set of gears is applicable
to.
My book is open and waiting.
