Got it working, thanks for all the help.

One minor problem I'm having with hm_2_6 is that if I set it up to launch
from an icon it doesn't find its configuration file.  At least not in
the directory where the heavymetal.pl is located.  I could of course
edit heavymetal.pl to contain the complete path name to those files,
but it would be more graceful is the program would figure out where it
is running from and look there.
