I have an EXTEL printer made by Extel Corp in Northbrook Ill.
It is a 6 pin dot matrix printer and seems to be a 5 level machine
probably made in the 70's.
Any info would be appreciated.

Will,
Presumably the EXTEL means EX-Teletype people that started the company.
These dot matrix machines were an inexpensive way to print out the
latest financial information.
Stocks, bonds, averages, etc., etc. A modern alternative to the
"Ticker"
Many of these were installed in newspaper offices and homes of
investors.
As a Bell technician in the early 70s I installed several data
channels for use with the EXTEL
printers. One such circuit at the EXTEL company location in Northbrook.
I also was called out to repair a data channel for an investor at his
home in Barrington, Illinois
I have no personal experience with the printer itself, but others on
this list do.
Good luck,
Don
