Hello friends. I have my Teletype ASR 28 going. I am receiving ITTY on the machine. However, the printer is printing a combination of numbers and symbols with the words when it is not supposed to. I have used the range finder adjuster on the right side of the printing unit and attempted to range it in while typing RY RY RY RY RY RY RY RY RY RY . This is not helping the problem. It does not appear to be a keyboard issue because when I send messages out via amateur radio it is a perfect copy at the receiving station. Even when I type, it is switching to numbers and symbols on the paper when not commanded to do so. But the receiving station is receiving a perfect copy of letters as they should. This appears to be a printer unit issue and not a keyboard issue. Also, my ribbon is not advancing it is just typing on the same spot all the time. Any and all help is appreciated. Please e-mail me direct with any information on this problem.
Thank you all.

charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowedOh dear! Oh dear! I -really- want this machine! I just rescued the two WU Model 100 printers Jim (W1JT) had up on ebay...they were just like the one I had when I was a kid, and now, a bright shiny M28 like the one I lusted after in high school is in CA when I'm in MA! Boo. And my teleprinter addiction is kicking up again after lying at rest for more than 40 years...(do more machines make the addiction abate?)Gerry Block has said he'd bid on it, and now somebody has pushed the ebay bid to $300. I'm willing to become a part or whole owner of this machine, if some deal can be worked to temporarily store this thing until I can figure out how to get it back East. Or at least secure a 'right of first refusal' in some sort of partnership that might admit of a full acquisition at some later date.Gerry...we've not met, but do you want a partner in this attempted acquisition?David Burns - Boston,

text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1I have a couple of USN remote RTTY (RATT) indicator scopes - IP-352/URand earlier OSAhttp://www.navy-radio.com/rtty/conv/ratt-display-04.JPGhttp://www.navy-radio.com/test/ww2/osa-04.jpgThe CRT display lets you tune in a RTTY signal properly and duplicatesthe displays found in the actual RTTY converters. My question is - has anyone ever seen one of these actually installed shipboard?Where would you install it? - next to the RTTY converter you were adjusting? In the radio room with the receivers so you could yell to the RM inthe next compartment to adjust the damn converter? In the message center with the TTYs so you could yell to the RM in thenext compartment to adjust the damn converter? In the mess when you were offshore out of TV range and desperate forentertainment?(Rice-man's suggestion) In the head to alert the RM to go adjust thedamn converter.None of these make a lot of sense to me. Any info (and especially aphoto!) will
be appreciated.cheers,Nick K4NYWwww.navy-radio.com------------------------------_______________________________________________GreenKeys mailing listGreenKeys at mailman.qth.nethttp://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/greenkeysEnd of GreenKeys Digest, Vol 95, Issue 10*****************************************
