Norm,

The way to tell about the ball channel is to tighten the adjusting  
screw and try to push down two keys.
If you have all of your balls you will just be able to partially  
depress a single key.
As you back off on the adjustment screw you will be able to depress a  
single key but not two.
If you tighten the screw all the way and still can depress a key  
completely or if you cannot adjust
the screw for only one key depression, you have lost one or more of  
the balls.

I hope this is understandable.  Good luck with your balls.
