[GreenKeys] Model 15 Noise Suppression

When I was in high school 44 years ago, a fellow who introduced me to
Teletype had an effective and novel soundproofing method. He mounted a
model 15 with pedestal on a piece of plywood, and put a partially
inflated boat trailer tire inner tube under it all. It pretty much
eliminated the sounds transmitted to the floor, and the soundproofing
inside the cabinet was still in good shape. His shack was on the top
floor of his house, so I'm sure everyone was pleased with the sound
reduction. It made the machine a little unsteady to type on, but you
could get used to it rather quickly. When I joined the Air Force and
heard 15s on regular wooden floors, the difference in sound was quite
apparent. Klienschmidts were noisy no matter what kind of floor they
were on, a 15 or 28 was much easier to be around for hours at a time.
