Hi All:

A little progress report.... This morning I planned to 
degrease the machine, a project now completed. I am now 
letting it dry before re-doing the lubrication. Each time I 
look at it, it appears to be in better and better 
condition.

I did check out the shaft as per George Hutchinson's 
suggestion, and it does have good oil flow. I was aware of 
the hollow shaft for oiling, and as a result of George's 
notes, checked to make sure a little oil dribbled out the 
selector end cap. It did, indicating that the felt is 
permeable as it should be.
