[GreenKeys] TTY to Ethernet Converter or TTYoIP

Very interesting, indeed. If you plan to connect to ITTY, right now that is only an audio stream. I wonder if a text stream could be sent out (ascii encoded ITA#2, basically a seven bit character, but ignore the top 2 bits and just use the bottom 5 for the baudot character). If a telnet server could be set up to send this data then your black box would be much easier (no audio processing at all).

This sounds like a very interesting project! I could envision that the black box could be configured from the TTY itself. Maybe by selecting some escape sequence, the system goes into "local mode" and commands can be issued from the TTY to the black box and status could be reported from the box and printed on the TTY. Once the config is all set up, a "REMOTE" command is given and now its printing what comes over the Ethernet.

Neat possibilities!

Eugene,

That is part of the intention of this box. Imagine that you plug one end of this box into your teletype, and the other end into an ethernet switch. When you power it up, a dialogue like this takes place between you and your teletype:

George has already mentioned to me that it would be quite easy to hook directly into the current ITTY datafeed...
