[GreenKeys] OT: Selectric turned 50 last week

In the mid to late 70's w e used those things for output  on our SEL-810B fault monitoring computer.  What a nightmare!  We had two on the computer and one spare.  One or two was always in the shop making the local selectric repairman rich.  Anytime there was a major disruption, the Selectrics would immediately get behind - anything from a few minutes to several hours.  Let me tell you about the joy of having alarms going off all around you while waiting for the Selectric to deign to let you know why.  One of the first things I ever built for the company was a parallel to serial interface card so we could hookup some 1200 baud Terminets.  The company gave me a letter of commendation and a cup of coffee for my efforts. 



They were probably pretty good typewriters but let's just say they lacked as compter I/O devices...
