I'm all for going back to manual exchanges i.e., "Number Pleeeeze", calling 
Long Distance to call outta town
and having the Phone Police kick in your door, and take away your first born 
when they discover you've
had an "Illegal Extension" connected to their telephone system.

The FCC is talking about doing away with the switched telephone network!
If we have to depend on the web for our telephone service we will be
