I assume that your punch has a "backspace" lever. When you make a typo, 
back the tape up to that slot and overpunch it with LTRS, then type the 
correct character. If you already have the tape punched and don't choose 
to do it again, just run it through with the reperf on, and single-step 
to the error: you may either overpunch the LTRS char over the error at 
the reperf, or simply space the source tape past the mistake and insert 
the correct character(s) on the reperf.

Either that, or I misunderstood your post and I'm stating the obvious.
