[GreenKeys] Model 43 power issue

This may be more of a "Black Plastic" question than a Green Keys 
question but does anyone have any technical information a Model 43KSR? 
I have a copy of the operator's manual.  I have a machine that gets 
power to the power supply (the red light is lit) but apparently not to 
the keyboard.  None of the lights on the keyboard light up and none of 
the Local functions (Printer Test, etc.) will work.  The fuse is OK and 
I re-seated two ribbon cables that I can see.  The operator's manual 
mentions connecting it to a phone line or modem *before* powering it on 
so I didn't know if this was a necessity or not.

Also, are the ribbon cartridges "unobtanium"?  It has one cartridge in 
it so perhaps this can be re-inked if necessary.
