Gentlemen:

At a radio club meeting last night I happened to mention that there have 
been great changes in our hobby over the past 30 or so years.  As proof I 
happened to mention RTTY and the fact that it is now pronounced "Rittey." 
I thought I saw a startled face or two so I then proceeded to say that I was 
beginning to suspect that no one knew where the word "teletype" came from. 
I was only mildly surprised when no one volunteered and then I asked if 
anyone knew what a teletype machine was.   Half the room shook their heads! 
Then I took the leap and asked if anyone had ever seen a machine.   Two 
hands.......

I remember all too well when you waited for years for a machine to become 
"available."   And now they all go to the recycling center.

For me, hauling one of the machines to a meeting or some sort of demo is 
absolutely out of the question.   That 70th birthday stops a lot of things. 
But I sure would like to!

And Gary, I will send you some photos of my shack so you can be reassured 
that you are not the only person who still has "real machines."
