Hi agn all...

I wish to thank everyone who posted info on this most
interesting topic. This group is so informative. As I read thru
the many postings, I felt I was back in school again, only
paying attention this time!!

I gess this signal caused much grief on the HF bands, and with this much power, I am surprised the E-layer cud bounce it back over the horizon rather than 'Punching thru!'

I only have a cupl questions left for you to ponder, when did it quit (Or abandoned by the Russian Military), and has it ever been heard again?

I am surmising the purpose of it all was to detect incoming
aircraft/missiles, and the beamwidth direction was
pbly specifically tuned to cover Northern Canada and
midwestern U.S.A. (This is only my theory-subject to correction!)

I am really excited to be back in amateur radio again,
and I am always ready to learn new things...So much has changed. I am still thinking Vacuum tube technology,
as I can still fix this stuff! I have moved up in the Ham world tho, as I just recently rec'd. my first truly digital receiver, (An Icom R-71A) which I am having a ball with...

Many kind tks agn to all who responded to my previous
posting.
