The Nimitz had quite a lot of TTY gear in the early 1980s
that most here would be familiar with... If you can get a
hold of a movie called "The Final Countdown" 1980 with Kirk
Douglas, Martin Sheen, James Farentino and Charles Durning -
there are several scenes in / around the comm center. At
the (approx.) 1:30:00 into the movie - just after they've
gone through the storm a second time - there is a very brief
shot of the dual four-high waterfall sets "jumping" to life
(actually - someone just opened the loop - and the six
visible typers of course come alive). The movie is not
well known - but has an interesting (if improbable) premise
- and the flight scenes are among the best ever filmed.
Didn't hurt that the Tom Cats were being flown by several of
the best pilots in the world.. and pushing them right to
their limits (one pulls a stunt that the Navy brass about
had a heart attack over - but after it caused a "swell" in
enlistments - they got over it)... If you're going to buy
the movie (which I highly recommend) splurge a bit and get
the Blue Underground issue... it's *well* worth the cost...
(usually runs $30.00 for the two disc limited edition DVD
(with lots of extras) and $35.00 for the Blu-Ray).

There is a trailer here:
http://www.blue-underground.com/product.php?product=164

and at least part of a water-fall is visible with one sorta
typing... (looks like typical random printing from no
signal)...

Should be obvious I have no interest in Blue Underground,
etc. - other than a satisfied customer... but I'll note it
here "just in case"...

best regards...
