Thank you for the nice pictures.   I was on the USS Intrepid CVS-11 1969-1970 and the Hornet was our sister ship at Quonset Point, RI.  

The CW positions in the pictures are almost identical to the ones on the Intrepid.  Even though I was a Radionman 2nd class I did not know the code.  So in 1969 I sat for many an hour listening to the Novice bands on one of those R390's until I got up to 5 wpm.

I pass my Novice test in Sept of 1969 aboard the Intrepid.

USS Intrepid callsign was NBQK.
