[GreenKeys] physical tape format question

Ok, here's an actual TTY question (vs. a Linotype matter):

Was the relative spacing of the holes and drive-sproket holes
(correct me if I have my terminology wrong!) the same in 
5, 6, and 8 level tape, or did it differ between them?

In other words, if I should run across an 8-level punch, would it
be possible to make tape-guide adapters for it to allow it to punch
the narrower 5 or 6 level tape, or would the spacing be off?

My apologies if this is a FAQ.  I tried to do a search of the
Greenkeys archives (I'm viewing them on rtty.com), but I keep
getting an error message which indicates that the search engine
isn't there:
