[GreenKeys] Building a Precision CRT

Sadly, that factory is effectively gone, It was spun off as Planar, and I
believe they may still be around making specialty CRT's, but the CRT is not
what makes the instrument any longer. Fortunately, Tekronix has been able to
keep a fairly decent edge in the DSO market. At one time I had nearly 500
TEK instruments, now my collection has been pared to about a dozen classic
instruments. I have a 511, a 545B, a 547, 555, 556, 570,575 519, 549, 7104,
7854, and a 2467- all classics in one way or another. I now use more modern
scopes, a TDS 3054 is my workhorse now, but every once in a while, I'll pull
out one of the classics and use it, and just wonder at what I think is
probably the most beautiful example of the electronic art- ever.

I hadn't realised that video had been added - absolutely fascinating! No
wonder Tek scopes were (and still are) expensive.

The silk screen print that is put on the neck right at the end is T51P2A.
That corresponds to a 154-0081-00 CRT, used in the 531, 535, RM31, RM35, 513
and 513D scopes (courtesy of Stan's reference data on reprise.com). So now
I know the detail of the manufacturing process in all my 500-series scopes -
amazing stuff.

Anyone interested in Tektronix gear ought to join the TekScopes yahoo group.

Craig
